Mechanism of action

What Adipotide does in the body — step by step.

01

Adipotide is a peptidomimetic made of two functional parts: a targeting segment that binds prohibitin on the surface of the blood vessels of white adipose tissue, and a pro-apoptotic segment (D(KLAKLAK)₂).

02

After binding it is intended to selectively trigger apoptosis of these vascular cells and thereby cut off the blood supply to the fat tissue.

03

In animal models this led to a reduction in fat mass.

Research status

How far along is the evidence?

PRECLINICALEARLY CLINICAL STUDIESCLINICALLY ESTABLISHED
Adipotide has been studied mainly in animal models.
Adipotide has been studied mainly in animal models.
A widely noted study (2011) documented weight loss and improved insulin resistance in obese monkeys.
Robust controlled human studies are lacking; large-scale clinical development has not taken place.
Nephrotoxicity in particular is discussed.
04

Known risks

Without human data, safety statements are limited. What is known:

01
Nephrotoxicity described in animal models
02
No controlled human studies — safety entirely unclear
03
Pro-apoptotic mechanism with potentially non-specific cell damage
04
Product quality cannot be verified from unapproved sources

Frequently asked questions

What is Adipotide?+

Adipotide is a peptidomimetic made of two functional parts: a targeting segment that binds prohibitin on the surface of the blood vessels of white adipose tissue, and a pro-apoptotic segment (D(KLAKLAK)₂).

What type of peptide is Adipotide?+

Adipotide belongs to the Other class.

What is Adipotide used for?+

In research, Adipotide has primarily been investigated in the context of: Metabolism. These are research findings (evidence: preclinical), not proven benefits in humans and not a usage recommendation.

Is Adipotide legal in Germany?+

Adipotide is not approved as a medicine in Germany. Obtaining it outside clinical studies is legally problematic.

Is Adipotide FDA-approved / legal in the US?+

No. Adipotide is not FDA-approved as a drug in the US; it is mostly sold as a research chemical and not for human consumption.

Is Adipotide legal in Canada?+

No. Adipotide is not authorized by Health Canada and not intended for human consumption.

Where can I buy Adipotide?+

Peptica sells nothing and names no sources. Adipotide is "not approved" in Germany; obtaining unapproved substances outside clinical studies is illegal and carries quality and safety risks.

What is the dosage of Adipotide?+

Peptica publishes no dosing. There are no approved dosing guidelines for Adipotide; figures circulating online stem from animal studies or anecdote, not from validated human protocols. This is not medical advice.

Is Adipotide banned in sport (WADA)?+

Adipotide is currently not on the WADA Prohibited List.

What are the known risks of Adipotide?+

Documented risks include: Nephrotoxicity described in animal models; No controlled human studies — safety entirely unclear. This is not a complete safety assessment and not medical advice — see the risks section for the full list.

How well researched is Adipotide?+

The evidence is classified as “preclinical”. 1 study is cited on this page.

What is the molecular weight of Adipotide?+

Adipotide has a molar mass of about 2557.2 Da.

LEGAL STATUS BY REGION
Germanynot approved

Adipotide is not approved as a medicine and is solely an experimental research substance. Not on the WADA Prohibited List. Obtaining it as a research chemical is highly risky — kidney toxicity, among other effects, was observed in animal models.

Legal status varies by country and can change. This is not legal advice.
